Guānyīn Project

Guānyīn Project is a non-profit program initiated by dze.labs for soundscape humanities research and artistic co-creation.

Upholding the philosophy of listening to all beings and perceiving the realm of sound, it relies on dze.labs’ self-developed high-fidelity microphone system. The program delves into natural wilderness, urban textures and human settlements to carry out comprehensive soundscape exploration, field recording collection and auditory cultural research, reconstructing the spiritual bond between humanity, nature, time, space and society from an auditory perspective.

Three participation channels are open to the public: artists and sound creators specially invited by dze.labs; emerging creators, students and researchers dedicated to sound art, field recording and environmental acoustics, who may apply for public welfare equipment sponsorship to support their creation and academic research; as well as general enthusiasts who love listening and explore soundscapes spontaneously.

All participants shall archive their original field recordings into the public library of Sound Map, to jointly build and share global local soundscapes and construct an open auditory public archive. Selected high-quality soundscape creations and experimental works will be officially published via dze.label, including digital distribution and physical vinyl collection.
